“The number 1 principle that rules my life is: INTENTION” Oprah Winfrey

INTENTION + ATTENTION = CHANGE

“My utmost desire as a human being is to live out the fullest expression of that. One of my true roles on Earth is to be an inspiration.”

“We’re all here to use what each of us has been given to the fullest, highest expression of yourself, myself.”

“Life is always mirroring your life back to you.”

I have a confession to make. When I first moved to the US in 1992, I was a bit of a snob. Coming from Europe, I tended to look  down on many american TV shows and never really watched any of them for a long time. Therefor, I had hardly any personal experience, but quite a strong opinion.

Some years later, while working as an interior design consultant I had to sit in a beautiful showroom filled with lovely furniture and a TV set in the middle. When we had no customers, which was quite often after the recession hit, my fellow consultants would always turn on the Oprah Winfrey show at 4 pm. This was the first time I actually really watched her show and paid attention – and I got hooked. I got hooked because I saw and heard someone, who had a clear message through everything she did and said –  Always better yourself, learn about yourself so you can serve and better the world around you – and she was willing to roll up her sleeves and step forward to get the job done. She didn’t talk down to her audience, she didn’t preach, she was one of us. Here we go, let’s discuss this issue, let’s look at this problem together and let’s see how we can use it for something much bigger than ourselves. In so many ways she has become a role model, and continues to be one for me every day.

So, I must apologize to you Oprah for my initial ignorance. I was very wrong and am so grateful to have had a chance to find out who you really are. Today I feel inspired by just listening to you.

This morning, browsing on LinkedIn I came across Jeff Weiner‘s interview with Oprah and I had to stop what I was doing and listen to it. Then I had to sit down and write this post, because once again I felt inspired. I felt inspired to do something good here on Earth. I felt inspired to be better, to be more aware, to be part of

“the power of the message that certain beliefs, e.g. the enduring power of love, kindness, and tolerance, are universal regardless of race, religion, or creed.”

There is nothing I can stand behind more wholeheartedly than this.

So let me share with you the first part of Jeff Weiner’s interview with Oprah about her upcoming series BELIEF and “why this series was so important to her. We also covered some of the most meaningful and consistent themes throughout her career, e.g. the power of intention, using her platform to amplify only positive messages, how she was able to successfully transition from one platform to another, and the power of “a-ha” moments and the joy she takes in sharing those with her audience.”

Thanks Jeff Weiner for creating a respectful and safe platform for Oprah where she could express so many inspirational thoughts and convey her passion to us listeners. Passion is contagious, and I, for one, have certainly been infected.

So now it’s my turn to pass it on any way I can, through any channel I have access to, through my work, my communication, my choices and most of all through accepting the responsibility to lead, in the most noble sense of this overused word.
